TU Dortmund has been researching and teaching at the global intersection between man, nature and technology since its foundation in 1968. It has developed a unique profile with a special combination of faculties in the natural sciences and engineering, the social sciences and the humanities. This structure produces new knowledge, methodologies and technical innovations. Sebastian Engell, Prof. Dr.-Ing. is Full Professor of Process Dynamics and Operations at TU Dortmund since 1990. He got a Dr.-Ing. Degree in Control Theory in 1981 and the Habilitation in Automatic Control in 1987, both from Duisburg University. He worked for Fraunhofer IITB from 1986-1990. He received an ERC Advanced Investigator Grant in 2012. His research interests are advanced process control, management of production sites and optimization-based process design.
